For those that are classic rock fans, that is the title of one the iconic hits of that genre. But that’s not what we want to talk about today. I recently ran across a survey conducted by my good friend Tim Cummins at the International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) and it paints a picture of YOU. Well, perhaps most of YOU at least. Because Talent Management continues to be a very high priority for our community and profession, we thought it would be interesting to answer the question that Pete Townshend asked in 1978….WHO ARE YOU??

What is Crowdsourcing? For those of us who operate in the world of sourcing and supply chain, it sounds familiar but may not have anything to do with sourcing or supply chain at all. If you’re not familiar with the term, it is, as defined in Wikipedia, “the act of outsourcing tasks, traditionally performed by an employee or contractor, to an undefined, large group of people or community (a “crowd”), through an open call.”

This was a gathering of various Presidents of the ISM and NAPM regional chapters and they were gathered together in that capacity. They were trying to figure out how to become more relevant for their regional markets and their customer was the entire Procurement, Sourcing and Supply Chain community of that region. I decided to give them a perspective of their market based on a lot of the research that we have done and provided them with the proverbial Top Ten list (in no particular order).
